Life balance

The hours you do not sell

Work will take every hour you offer it and ask for one more. The hours you do not sell are the ones that decide what kind of life you are building.

Nobody, at the end, wishes they had attended more meetings. The regrets people actually report are quieter: walks not taken, calls to parents postponed until the number answered by no one.

Put the unsellable hours in the calendar first: the dinner, the prayer, the walk, the hour with a child who will only be seven once. Then let work have the rest. It will complain, and it will survive.
